‘My only love, sprung from my only hate.’ The story of Romeo and Juliet, the forbidden love between two young people from rival families, has touched us for centuries. Spanish choreographer Marcos Morau innovatively brings this classic tragedy to life in an intense and compelling performance.
In a dark world, where violence and destruction are inescapable, Morau depicts the story as a universal parable, stripped of all traditional narrative. With his trademark poetic musicality and refined movement language, he creates an impressive visual universe. In doing so, he draws inspiration from Sergei Prokofiev's legendary score, which masterfully captures both the lovers' sensual passion and the threat of their fate.
